Recent studies indicate a significant rise in global boredom over the past 15 years, with increased social media usage identified as a potential contributor. Despite the constant availability of digital entertainment, individuals, particularly adolescents and notably girls, report feeling bored more frequently. Researchers, including Dr. Katy Tam, suggest that while social media offers continuous engagement, its passive and predictable nature may fail to provide the meaningful stimulation necessary to alleviate boredom. This trend underscores the importance of seeking active and fulfilling interactions to counteract the monotony prevalent in the digital age.

It’s paradox of choice in action. Theres so much to choose from that instead of feeling excited, we feel paralyzed and overwhelmed. And when we finally do pick something, we cant stop wondering if we chose the “wrong” thing, so we dont enjoy it as much.
