Daze, a creative, AI-powered messaging app for Gen Z, is blowing up prelaunch

Daze, an AI-powered messaging app for Gen Z, is gaining massive prelaunch attention with over 156,000 waitlist sign-ups and viral success on TikTok and Instagram. Founded by Willem Simons, the app offers a creative alternative to iMessage and WhatsApp, allowing users to send colorful, multimedia messages with photos, graphics, and more. Daze has raised $5.7 million in funding and is set to launch on November 4. Currently in beta testing, the app is popular among users aged 13 to 22 and has a 60-day retention rate of over 50%.

It’s an interesting concept. Looks like they jammed a miro or Figma style board into a chat somehow. I think it’s pretty creative overall, not sure I would use to with people I am actually trying to type something serious to, but otherwise an interesting idea.

As someone in the age group, I think Daze is perfect for how we communicate.. less formal, more visual.

We love sending memes, pictures, and random graphics instead of just texting.
