Threads to get some ads January 2025

Meta may introduce ads on Threads, its social media platform, starting in January 2025. Initially, only a small group of advertisers will be allowed to create and publish ads, a move confirmed by Instagram head Adam Mosseri, who stated that Threads needs to generate revenue to cover operational costs. While Meta earned $39.8 billion from ads last quarter, it doesn’t expect Threads to significantly drive revenue in 2025. Ads on Threads might appear as “sponsored” posts, a feature spotted in development. While some advertisers see Threads as a safer alternative to X, others are returning to X for strategic reasons, and Bluesky has pledged to remain ad-free.
