Sony Music has sent warnings to over 700 AI companies and streaming platforms against using its copyrighted content without permission. The company emphasized that unauthorized use for AI training, development, or commercialization denies artists and the label control and compensation. This move is part of the music industry's broader effort to protect its intellectual property in the face of AI advancements, highlighted by recent conflicts and agreements involving major platforms like YouTube and TikTok. AI-generated voice clones and the use of artist likenesses without consent are also raising significant legal and ethical concerns.

Someone has to put these AI companies in check, they are out of control training on data sets that are “publicly” available. But being publicly available to view a work doesn’t make it OK for you to take it and train you AI on it without permission.
