The new thresholds effectively halve the requirements for entry into the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), dropping it from 1,000 subscribers to 500 subs
This will now apply to creators in 37 more countries, meaning that 99 regions in total now qualify for the new system.

Wow, hadn't known the monetization wasn't widely available around the globe, it's nice to see that youtube expanded its reach here.
Also 500 subs to be part of the Youtube partner program makes a ton more sense considering how difficult getting subscribers is today (despite getting a nice amount of views per video).
You would think it would be widely available knowing how many creators there are. Hopefully they'll spread it out to more in the near future.
