YouTube introduced "Hype," a feature designed to help emerging creators grow by letting fans promote their videos. For creators with under 500,000 subscribers, videos less than seven days old can be "hyped" by viewers, with the most hyped videos appearing on a leaderboard. Fans can hype videos up to three times a week, and in the future, will be able to purchase additional hypes. To support smaller channels, a point multiplier helps them compete on the leaderboard. Beta testing in Turkey, Taiwan, and Brazil saw millions of hypes, with the largest user group being 18-24-year-olds. The feature aims to make fan support more interactive and help creators connect with new audiences.

Smaller creators might benefit at first, but as soon as they introduce the option to buy hypes, it's gona get messy, so I hope that's not their plan. Imagine influencers buying hundreds of hypes just to boost a video.
