How to get other people to share your stuff

Ten years ago, Twitter was a key platform for writers to build audiences with witty one-liners, but over time it became clear that a large following didn’t necessarily translate into book sales. After Elon Musk's 2022 acquisition, many writers left Twitter, scattering to platforms like Mastodon, Substack, and TikTok, making it harder for writers to capture attention.

To succeed in this fragmented landscape, it's crucial to consider why someone would share your content. Whether it's funny, relatable, or illuminating, writers need to create content that resonates with audiences and inspires sharing. Additionally, it's important to personally ask others to share your work, especially those with whom you’ve built connections or whose audiences align with your own.

Building relationships and being selective about which pieces to promote is key to gaining attention in the current online environment.
