200 Musicians (including Nicki Minaj, Billie Eilish, Katy Perry) sign letter against irresponsible AI

A group of 200 musicians, including notable names like Nicki Minaj, Billie Eilish, and Katy Perry, signed an open letter urging tech companies to be responsible with AI music generation tools, warning against the potential threats to privacy, identity, and livelihoods posed by irresponsible AI use. The letter highlights concerns about AI models using existing works without permission, leading to potential copyright violations and undermining the creativity of artists. Additionally, authors have also expressed similar concerns about generative AI, with thousands signing a letter addressing major tech CEOs. Despite these concerns, some tech companies continue to develop AI tools, raising worries about the exploitation of artists' voices and the destruction of the music ecosystem.

I believe major tech figures did an open letter like this not too long ago around the potential dangers of AI as well (in general). Honestly, all of this is true and good. It’s in our best interest as a single humanity to urge our lawmakers and tech makers to build responsibly. I don’t think anyone is interested in living in a world where the arts are crippled by AI.

The fact that data is being used and trained without the artists consent is quite infuriating. Why would anyone think this is fair or reasonable without compensation.
