"Fortnite" has become a major cultural force beyond gaming, shaping mainstream culture and becoming a platform where brands, artists, and fans converge. Initially released in 2017 by Epic Games, it gained massive popularity with its free-to-play "Battle Royale" mode. This move drew millions of players and opened doors for cross-industry collaborations, such as Disney, Marvel, and Balenciaga, which helped Epic monetize the game in innovative ways.
Fortnite's influence extends through in-game events and virtual concerts, with artists like Travis Scott and Ariana Grande performing in-game. These events draw significant viewership and even boost streaming numbers for the artists involved. The game also supports creators, with popular streamers like Rubius getting their own in-game skins, cementing Fortnite's impact across the internet.
Epic's vision of Fortnite as a cultural hub has made it a go-to platform for virtual socializing, hosting live events, and introducing brand collaborations, making it more than just a game. As its popularity continues, the game is increasingly merging with real-world culture, proving that video games can be mainstream cultural pillars.

It is actually really cool to see gaming have such a cultural impact. As a kid I would never have imagined that games would reach a scale such as esports, brand collaborations, dances, entertainment, etc. it’s really dope.
