Social media video clippers have become some of the most powerful outlets of the 2024 campaign

In the 2024 election cycle, video clippers—individuals or groups who selectively share campaign and news footage—have become highly influential. Operating independently or with political groups, they drive online narratives by highlighting key, often provocative, moments. Clips from a recent Trump rally featuring controversial comments went viral, sparking responses from the Harris campaign and public figures, and illustrating how both sides capitalize on such content. This trend has transformed video clipping into a significant campaign tool, shaping media coverage and public perception across social platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter).

The role of video clippers is huge this year. They have more impact than traditional media in some cases because they can tailor narratives with just a few seconds of footage. One viral clip can shape peoples perceptions of a candidate more effectively than a full length interview.

I would argue that most people under the age of 40 are getting their news from social media clips. It IS the new way to disseminate information quickly.

It's dangerous because these people often have some sort of agenda or they are also trying to 'game' the algorithm most of the time.
