AI systems like ChatGPT and Midjourney, despite being relatively new, are significantly impacting freelance work in the U.S., with 38% of freelancers affected. Job postings for AI-suitable tasks, such as copywriting and coding, have dropped up to 21% on platforms like Fiverr and Upwork. Although AI-generated work often requires human revisions, these tasks pay less and have quicker turnaround times. Conversely, in fields where AI enhances rather than replaces human work, like IT and data science, overall pay has increased by about 40%. The key for freelancers is to demonstrate their indispensability.

I've noticed this in my own business. People have absolutely started to de-value certain aspects of freelance work that used to have a ton of respect.
I've found it harder and hard to work with anyone who wants a writer or artist beyond hollywood or news reporting. And even those areas were hit significantly.
