Substack now lets anyone publish posts, even if they don’t have a newsletter

Substack has expanded its platform, allowing anyone to publish content without needing to create a newsletter. This move aims to attract a broader range of content creators beyond those focused on long-form writing. The company, which has been known for newsletters, is increasingly positioning itself as a social network, introducing features like tweet-like Notes and direct messaging. Now, users can share writing, video, or audio content, collect subscriptions, and potentially start newsletters, all while keeping existing posts and subscribers. Substack is also improving its mobile functionality, including adding support for live video and in-app payments. This shift is partly in response to changes at Twitter, now X, which have driven users to seek alternative platforms like Substack.
