Concord dev expresses gratitude for support: 'For all of you reaching out with love, you are the reason we make games'

"Concord," a hero shooter game developed by Firewalk Studios and published by Sony, was abruptly shut down just 11 days after its release. The shutdown led to a wave of criticism from some who labeled the game as too "woke" or diverse. However, many fans and developers rallied in support of Firewalk Studios, recognizing the team's effort and talent. Industry professionals like Daryl Nelson and Josh Scherr expressed their sympathy and support on social media, highlighting the challenges of launching a game and offering words of encouragement to the developers.

There is speculation that "Concord" might return in the future, potentially as a retooled, free-to-play game, similar to how other games have successfully relaunched after initial setbacks. Firewalk Studios has not yet commented on the game's future, but developers have thanked the community for their support and expressed hope for what comes next.

I can totally empathize with Firewalk Studios. Launching a game, especially a multiplayer-focused one, is like walking on a tightrope. One wrong step, and it’s over. Hope they come back stronger with a retooled version.

Imagine working on something so passionately for 8 years only for it to go down in flames in a few days after release. I feel extreme gratitude towards the creatives behind this game.
